I love fabric panel – today spring

In my last post, I showed a T-shirt with a dinosaur panel.

I have loved fabric panels since I discovered them a year and a half ago.

The panels for the door or also for the wall are made so fast and so simple. Meanwhile I make them in less than an hour hihi.

There you can see how many I made and gave away.

Most of the ones I sewed were with winter or christmas motives.

This is the second one I made for a colleague. Unfortunately, I forgot to photograph the first panel. She chose the panel and I sewed it.

I think this one with the cherry blossoms is beautiful, but it would not suit my interior.

The panel is not crooked as in the photo. I only used 2 hangers to hang it up, but there are 3 sewn hangers on the panel. So it fits and looks even πŸ™‚

For all who also want to sew a panel, definitely take Vylene for inside. Then the panel is much more beautiful and not so thin.

My newest sewing project – A dinosaur t-shirt

I sewed so many things for Miss M, but never anything for her little brother!

Last year I started a project for him which is very time-consuming and so that he doesn’t have to wait so long, I put this T-shirt in between.

I found the Jersey panel a few weeks ago on the internet and thought about David.
Like most 5 year old boys he loves dinosaurs.

David, this is for you πŸ™‚

Needed things for sewing – Photos

Today I actually would have had my first sewing course – day this year.

But I had something else in mind.

However, in order to do something with my favourite hobby today, I had the idea to photograph a part of my sewing supplies.

Yes, I have also photographed needles and scissors, but I have then decided for more colorful motifs here.

Here you go πŸ™‚

DIY Miss M’s first maxi dress

Do you remember the first time you wished for a maxi dress? I was a teenager.
Miss M and her family are invited to a wedding. She wished for a long dress with a spaghetti strap. I think because she saw it at her Mom’s.
She chose the fabric for the dress herself. The first time I saw the fabric, I thought, “Yuck.”
I would never have picked this fabric for a seven-year-old girl.
Her dress – her decision!
Here you can see how the dress turned out. Looks really good!

Two months ago, I bought fabric for Miss M. It was supposed to be a dress. Since there was more than enough fabric for a long dress, I also made the pattern with this fabric.
Now I just hope she likes that dress, too.

I sewed both dresses so that she can still wear them next year. There’s more than enough seam in there.
In a few hours she’ll get the dresses and I hope I can get some nice photos so I can show them here πŸ™‚

Miss M was right about the intense colors. She’s blonde and has very light skin. The contrast green/blue looks simply more beautiful….

DIY A cute Kids rain coat

Last year I saw a children’s coat in “my” fabric shop. Sellers sometimes sew clothes so you can see how a fabric might look dressed. The coat was so cute.

When I saw the coat, I immediately thought of Miss M.
Unfortunately I didn’t like the fabric and didn’t find anything suitable in the next months. Until a month ago!!!

I found a totally cute laminated cotton fabric.

Originally I wanted to sew a coat for fall / winter. But this fabric isn’t warm enough for that.
So I decided on a raincoat that was finished yesterday and I love it ❀ ❀ ❀

When I started to learn how to sew I got printed badges. I still like the motive very much but I wanted something new πŸ™‚
That’s why I got 2 woven badges this time. Here’s my first one. I just love it ❀

DIY Make a pillow look like a gift – Tutorial

Pillow Giftl 20

I saw those pillows on Pinterest last year. I liked them so much I wanted to sew them.
Actually, they’re meant for Christmas, which will last forever until next time hehe
But I always forgot to do this tutorial. Better late than never πŸ˜€

Something fun about it. I found the pillows on Pinterest first with my cell phone. Then I bought the fabric (canvas) and the zippers, copied the picture to my iPad and took it with me to my sewing course. Only when I wanted to show the teacher the now larger picture on the tablet, I saw that the pillows are not sewn but knitted.

My cushions have the approximate size 24 x 16 inch.
If you want to copy my tutorial, you have to make the bows bigger or smaller depending on the size of your cushions.

First start with the ” bands “.

Pillow Giftl 00

Sew the band together on the left side. Then turn it to the right. Lay the band so that the seam is at the back and iron it. I then triple-stitched both edges.

Pillow Giftl 01

Sew the two bands to the fabric you cut for the pillow.

Pillow Giftl 02

Here comes the bow. Sew together on the left side and turn to the right. Decorate the edge with the triple stitch. Then sew the bow together

Pillow Giftl 03

Pillow Giftl 04

Pillow Giftl 05

Now the bow should also look like a bow. Press the middle together with your fingers and sew together.

Pillow Giftl 06

Pillow Giftl 07

To make your pillow look even more like a gift, it also needs the bands on the bow.

I have tried it with different widths and have decided for this width.

Pillow Giftl 08

Because the strip on the bow looked too wide, I folded it in half. Place the strip around the bow so that it is the same length at both ends.

Pillow Giftl 09

Now hold the strip tightly around the bow and mark it with pins.

Pillow Giftl 11

Pillow Giftl 12

Sew on 2 strips of velcro on the back side at the marking. Don’t cut the velcro too small so you have some room to adjust later.

Pillow Giftl 15

Because I also want to attach the bow to the pillow with velcro, I put a piece of velcro on the back of the ribbon. Always make sure to take the “hard” part of the velcro for it!

If you want to wash the pillowcase, simply take off the bow and the fluffy part of the velcro won’t damage your other clothes.

Pillow Giftl 16

Now you have to decide WHERE to put your bow on the pillow!!!
Just try different places and where you like it best, make a mark and sew the counterpart of the velcro.

Pillow Giftl 17

If you need to shorten the band from the bow, do it now and sew the ends.

Then you can sew the pillowcase and zipper.

Your pillowcase is DONE πŸ™‚

You want to know how I made those three pillows with the Christmas songs?

I found a free font on the Internet called “Christmas”. I mirrored the writing and printed it out in enormous size. Then I applied the writing and decorated it a little, depending on the song.

Whoever made the knitted pillows on Pinterest, thanks for the inspiration ❀ ❀ ❀

Snowman jacket with a knitted tube scarf

This is my last DIY project this year for Miss M.
Originally I wanted to sew a jacket with Christmas flannel at the beginning of December. But I just forgot!
I have 3 different flannel fabrics which are related to winter / christmas.
So I talked to Miss M.’s mom and she picked out the snowman’s fabric. This jacket can also be worn after Christmas.

But only sewing the jacket without appliquΓ© would be sooooooo boring!!!!!
First I thought about taking the snowman from the flannel. I like the flannel fabric but I didn’t really like the snowman for the jacket.

On the internet I found free cliparts with snowmen and printed one of them.

The idea with the scarf came to me very late and I was afraid I would not get the delivery in time.
But luck for me, the knitted tube came on Monday πŸ™‚

Here’s the jacket from the front. I’ve stitched a few snowflakes on it.

Snowman jacket 2a

Here you can see the flannel lining. I like it very much – otherwise I would not have bought it – but I don’t like the snowman so much to apply it.

Snowman jacket 3a

I didn’t apply anything to the back of the jacket. At first I wanted to do the snowman too, but unfortunately I didn’t have enough time.

Now a closer look at the snowman. I have sewn the scarf only in a few places to make it look more real.

6th December – Saint Nicholas Day tradition

Did you also put your boots in front of the door on December 5th in the evening? And there were candy in your boots in the morning?

Or did your parents order a Santa Claus in your house who always knew what you had been doing all year? And fortunately there were always small gifts anyway?

When I was little I was terrified of Nicholas because he knew all my secrets!
Later I found out it was a friend of my dad’s hihihi πŸ˜€

Even though I have been too old for Nicholas for a long time, I still love this tradition.
That’s why I sewed a panel and hung it on the door this weekend.

Sweat jacket with bunnies and dot dot dot

And another jacket for Miss M.
A few months ago I sewed her a skirt with dots.
I found the lining fabric on eBay and the mushrooms with the dots brought me to the idea to sew a suitable jacket for the skirt.

I didn’t have to think long about the motive for the application. I copied a piece of fabric and printed it in different sizes.
Okay, the colors are very spring-like but I hope she’ll like it anyway when she gets it tomorrow πŸ™‚

DIY nautical hooded jacket

When I’ve sewn the girls dress with the school supplies I found remains of french terry fabric I used for a hooded jacket. Not enough for another jacket for myself, but enough for a little girls hooded sweat jacket.

I’ve made 6,7 or 8 hooded jackets for myself but this small jackets are way more complicated hehe

I started with an very easy jacket, Nothing special! I used the dress fabric as lining for the hood.

Here my first jacket for Miss M πŸ™‚

My next jacket has been more elaborated πŸ˜€

I used this jacket to learn how to applique

Remember the maritime dress with the paper boats?

Burda dress 01.

I had more than enough fabric left overΒ  when the dress has been done.

First I searched the net for drawings of a paper boat. I printed my found in different sizes and sewn it on the back of my jacket

DIY Hooded sweat jacket 04

The front got a paper boat too. This time with Miss M’s initials. I also made piping with the lining fabric

DIY Hooded sweat jacket 01

For lining the hood and the front I used the dress fabric. For the back lining I took the pocket fabric

Yes, I know. The pockets are a little displaced

Unfortunality I put the paper boats a little to high on the back. The hood is covering part of the boats 😦
