Merry Christmas 2023

XMas 2023 - 1

The year is almost over and so much has happened.
I already wrote that “my” fabric store, where I had my sewing course, is closing.
We were really lucky that a man who wanted to buy some of the furniture and sewing machines for his wife found out that these sewing courses were available.
His wife is also a hobby sewer. He made a studio for her where she can sew in the      evenings. During the day, he rents out the studio for sewing courses. Win-win decision 😀

The course takes place with our old teacher and the other hobby sewers have all been taken from the old store. I am really happy about this solution.

I didn’t manage many projects. I made a yellow rain jacket for a friend similar to the one I made for myself. That was very time-consuming.
I’m currently sewing a windbreaker but, as always with me, it’s taking longer than I’d hoped. Somehow I always think of things during the sewing project that I want to have differently or in addition. Hehe

I had sooooo many plans for sewing Christmas presents and what happens? My machine breaks down 😦 Unfortunately, there is no longer a dealer here in town who can repair my brand. The dealer in the next town said he had so many orders that I didn’t even need to bring my machine in this year. Crap!!!

In August I had corona for the 2nd time this year. But luckily it was only like a very mild cold.

All in all, it was finally a good year for me again.
When my sewing machine is repaired next year, I finally want to sew more for myself at home. Apart from the windbreaker, ALL the projects I made were for other people 😀

I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ❤

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2022

Yes, I know, I have not been in touch for ages.
Has anything changed for me this year? Not much, except that one colleague has quit and the rest who still work in the lab are under extreme stress. Especially because everyone who had Corona also had to stay at home for 7 days, regardless of whether they had symptoms or not.
So it comes that I have less energy after work to play or to do my hobby sewing.
Since a few weeks we finally have a new employee. Sure, he has to be trained first, but after that it should get easier. Especially since we no longer have to stay at home when we have Corona without symptoms. A mask that has to be worn then should protect the other colleagues.
Did I sew again?  Yes, some things. I’ll have to take pictures of them so I can show them here.

But above all a wonderful Christmas to all and Happy New Year

And the angel said, Have no fear; for truly, I give you good news of great joy which will be for all the people:

For on this day, in the town of David, a Saviour has come to birth, who is Christ the Lord.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Here are a few Christmas photos from me. Like every year I have increased my porcelain collection 😀

This is the first Christmas where I do not visit anyone, or do not get a visit. I was sick for 2 weeks, luckily the test was negative, but I don’t want to risk anything because I am not 100% fit yet.

But luckily there is the internet. There you can see your people just like that 🙂 Instead, we open the gifts during a video conference. That’s bound to be fun.

Stay healthy and save ❤ ❤ ❤

Advent, the 4th candle is lit

Is today really already the 4th Advent and in a few days Christmas?
I had so much planned, all the things I wanted to do. But then unfortunately a nasty cold came in between. Fortunately, the C-test is negative.
Last year a cold was just that. A cold. This year I’ve already had 4 tests and each time the wait with : do I have it or not?

Actually, I wanted to make a new picture with my Advent wreath and candles every Sunday. As I said, the stupid cold came in between. But today at least the wreath with 4 glowing candles 🙂

Last year I had Hanna knit me beautiful sweaters, because when I knit myself, it just doesn’t look nice and even. She even embroidered maritime motifs on my last sweater.

That gave me the idea to have something made for the Christmas season. An embroidered Advent calendar.
Even if I can not embroider myself, I love the designs of V. Enginger. They are so cute and retro. I even have some of her books.
Hanna and I picked some designs for my Advent calendar from the books.

I waited almost a year for it. First, because there are quite a few parts and second, because Christmas was soooo far away. 😀

What do you say? Aren’t they just adorable?

Originally I wanted to make little bags out of all the embroidery. But when I picked up all the pieces, I noticed that some motifs are very large.

When I sew a little bag from it, you can no longer see the motif completely.

I’ll have to figure out the best way to do that. Maybe sew little bags and then sew the motif on the fabric.

Could look interesting, depending on what color the fabric has. Maybe red or green or even tartan I can imagine.

Stay healthy and safe ❤ ❤ ❤

Oh man, it is already the first Advent

advent-1st-b

This year so much has happened in the world, but at the same time so little in my life.

This stupid virus has turned my life upside down.

I miss the fact that I can’t date anymore, that I can only talk to friends on the phone, or that you can’t hug them anymore when you see them (6 feet apart of course).

After spring I hoped it would be over soon, I even gave up my vacation on my beach, just to see that the numbers are rising again.

Today is the 1st Advent.

For me this time is very important because my family has always done a lot together from the 1st Advent to Christmas: baking cookies with mom, making presents for family and friends, singing Christmas carols together, going to the Christmas decorated church. During the Advent season, our home always smelled heavenly of cookies and fir branches, which my mother had in many vases.

Knowing that the situation will certainly not improve this year makes me a little depressed today.
I haven’t sewn anything for ages. My sewing class closed again 2 months or so ago because of Corona.

But slowly I have to start with the gifts I have planned. I won’t be able to deliver the gifts myself this year, but there is still the post office, so I can send the presents.

Stay safe all of you ❤ ❤ ❤

Merry Christmas 2019

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🙂

Merry Christmas 2019-1

Last year I made an Advent calendar, which I still like very much.

For this year I had planned to do the same, but unfortunately I remembered too late to see how to do it practically with Photoshop. Above all I did not consider how time-consuming my idea was. Too bad.

I won’t write what I wanted to do now (maybe I’ll like the idea for next year), but for next time I have to remember to to start earlier.

Merry Christmas 2019-2

The last two weeks I was in bed with severe flu. Therefore I could not go shopping or decorate my apartment properly. Too bad, because I didn’t have time to take care of it before. I didn’t even get a tree this year. Didn’t feel good enough to go outside.

But look what the mail brought in yesterday ❤ ❤ ❤

Normally I would have hung the ornaments on the tree, but so I just photographed it as if it was a breakfast table.

The plate is only a little bit bigger than 2 inch. This “doll’s dishes” looks exactly like my real Christmas dishes. Isn’t it cute?

Merry Christmas to all

Today again a picture from my Christmas porcelain collection.
This year the small ornaments were added. One is hanging on the tree, two I placed next to their big originals for the photo. I find them so cute ❤ ❤ ❤

On my last day of my Advent calendar I come in the most important language of the Christmas Gospel: Aramaic.

The language that Jesus spoke to his followers and disciples, the language with which he found so many who believed in him, that even today, after more than 2000 years, we still celebrate the day of his birth.

My thanks goes to those who have put the translations of the Bible in so many languages on the Internet. I hope no one will mind that I used these lines.

December 23rd – My Advent calendar

December 23rd - My advent calendar

Advent, advent, a candle is burning
First one, then two, then three, then four,
Then the Christ Child is standing in front of the door.

OMG, is this really the fourth Sunday of Advent?

Time has raced. Fortunately I did everything I wanted to do.

I also sewed presents but unfortunately I forgot to photograph them before I gave them as gifts.

Edit:

If you look at all 4 photos with the candles on the Advent wreath, you will see that it has gone from very bad on the first photo to almost perfect on this one. The first photo took so long that it was already dark outside. The other two I had taken during the day and looked better.
The trick is to spotlight. I had wondered all the time why the photo looked so bad in the beginning and then googled how to photograph candles.
So I bought small studio lamps for the last photo and lightened the motive with the candles. And voilà it worked 😀
